EPS CBRN Group Terms of Reference
1 To represent the Emergency Planning Society (EPS) on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear) emergencies. This includes CBRN emergencies resulting from deliberate, accidental and natural causes.
2 To report key activities of the Group to the main body of the EPS through the Director of Business Services.

Mick is an independent specialist in the field of civil protection and resilience planning. A former senior police officer, he retired from the Metropolitan Police Service after more than 30-years in 2009. He has been involved in the area of major incident preparedness and response since 1996. Mick was also the National Emergency Procedures Co-ordinator for ACPO from 2000 – 2009. He represented the UK on the Interpol Standing Committee on Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) throughout this period. Mick was involved from operational to strategic level in most of the major incidents occurring in or affecting the UK during the period 1996 - 2009. He has also been involved in the response to 5 public inquiries into major disasters, including 3 separate inquiries into the Marchioness disaster that occurred in 1989. He was also part of the ACPO team that advised the Cabinet Office during the drafting of the Civil Contingencies Act and supporting guidance. Within the last two years he has also led the planning for, and directed two national resilience exercises within the UK.
Amongst other current civil protection related activities he is an associate tutor for the College of Policing; a fellow of the Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management.
