Rockefeller Foundation President Judith Rodin Introduces New Orleans Chief Resilience Officer at First Ever CRO Summit
New Orleans, LA - On Thursday, Nov. 6 at 10:15 AM, the Mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu, will join the President of the Rockefeller Foundation, Judith Rodin, and the 100 Resilient Cities President, Michael Berkowitz, to address the 100 Resilient Cities first annual Chief Resilience Officer Summit. As part of their keynote address, Mayor Landrieu, Dr. Rodin and Mr. Berkowitz will announce New Orleans' own Chief Resilience Officer.
100 Resilient Cities was pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation last year to help cities around the world build resilience to the social, economic and physical challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century. New Orleans was selected as one of the first 32 members of what will ultimately be the 100 Resilient Cities network, and will receive technical support and resources to become more resilient to the physical, social and economic challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century.
The Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) is an innovative position that is a key part of the 100 Resilient Cities process. The CRO is a senior-level advisor to the Mayor, who works across silos of government and sectors of society (e.g. public, private, NGO, academic) to develop and implement key resilience strategy.
The historic city of New Orleans is playing host to the world's first ever 100 Resilient CitiesCROSummit from November 5th-8th. The summit brings together CROs from approximately 25 cities around the world to learn about resilience; to share resilience challenges and best practices from their cities; and to learn about best-in-class resilience building tools from the private, public, academic and NGO sectors.
